Founded by Serina Uncao in 2023, Torie and Ren began as a passion project with the goal of teaching and sharing the love of bagmaking. Samples sold in our shop are created as part of YouTube tutorials, Instagram reels, and patterns that you can sew too.

A Message From Serina

I'm Serina, a Portuguese-Canadian graphic designer and sewist based in a small Canadian town.

While in school for design research, I began Torie and Ren as a way to combine sewing with my graphic design background.

I named my shop after my childhood nickname Ren, created by my French teacher, and middle name, Victoria.

Torie and Ren would not be possible without my mom, who taught me to sew at the age of 11. She has supported me immensely, helping me start my first handmade business at the age of 12.

I began this project with tutorials, but will now be sharing my handmade samples which can be found below.

Commitment to Sustainability

In an attempt to prevent textile waste, all scraps produced during production will be sewn into other items or recycled through Go-Zero in Magog, Quebec.

Go-Zero's RealCycle program pledges transparency with traceable, full circular economy recycling.
